gesundheit!

Bah.  Summertime colds are the worst aren't they?  When I made these tissue holders last weekend, I had no idea that I would have to be tucking one into my own purse.   (And thank you, Erin  for the link to this wonderfully-easy tutorial!)

I made some silly little labels for them as well, printed out on muslin and set with a hot iron:

I have the hardest time putting labels on things that I make.  It always feels so incredibly vain when I do it, but when I receive a handmade gift from someone, I think it makes that gift all the more special.  The crafter's/artist's signature, but in fabric.

My children came back from their beach trip Saturday afternoon happy and exhausted and with sore throats, so of course, I was next.  I'm propped up in my bed right now with a cup of echinacea tea, zinc lozenges, and a package of tissues in a pretty fabric holder.  That latter one is making me smile.  Because, really, the tea is enough to make me gag. Bong-water, as my dear friend Alison refers to it.  How she knows what that tastes like--I really don't want to know!

charmed, i'm sure.

What to do with all of those bits and bobs too precious to throw away?  Sweet pendants and charm bracelets using the Martha Stewart Crafts kits at Michaels, of course!

I stood in front of the Martha Stewart Craft isle for hours yesterday, determined to finally purchase something from all of that goodness.  I've browsed it many times, so overwhelmed with trying to decide that I'm only to leave the store empty-handed.  I want one of everything, please.

Drawn by their simplicity, I finally settled on several packages of the memory pendant and charm bracelet  kits, with visions of tiny circles of fabrics peeking out from the charms. Good gracious, Martha really has that packaging thing down, doesn't she?!

An endless source of gifts with just a bit of scrap fabric. Oh, the possibilities!  Children's prints, Japanese prints, Liberty prints...

Fabric scraps mixed with photos, tiny rubber stamps, fancy papers...

Goodness, I think I'll get back to those kits now!  Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend, full of fun crafts and inspiration, too!
